Emma Hedrick is an award-winning, vocalist, composer, and arranger. The Indianapolis native is currently studying vocal jazz performance at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. In high school, Emma was a YoungArts winner and a winner in the high school jazz vocal category of DownBeat Magazine two years in a row. She received her 3rd Downbeat Student Music Award (Outstanding Performance) as a part of the Frost Jazz Vocal I ensemble this year. Last year, Emma was a finalist in the International Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Competition where she placed 3rd.  Emma had the honor of performing in the Telluride All-Stars Ensemble at the Telluride Jazz Festival in Colorado in 2018 and this summer she attended the Aspen Summer JAS Academy directed by Christian McBride. At just 20 years old, Emma has also headlined at various venues including Indy Jazzfest (NextCon) and The Jazz Kitchen. Next year, Emma will be traveling to Latvia, as a semi-finalist, to perform in the International Jazz Artist Contest at the Riga Jazz Stage. Emma aspires to take her audiences through the story of each song she sings and strives to use the voice in traditional and nontraditional ways.
